Malgrat de Mar is a small town in the coastal Catalonia (Spain). Its long beach that stretches along the town is a part of the sealine of Costa Brava. Originally, the town was set up by the local fishermen. Nowadays, principally living by tourism, it still preserves signs of the past epochs. The church of Sant Nicolau in the center of the town was build in the 16th century and is known as the Cathedral of the Coast. Malgrat de Mar also has some buildings in the modernism style. Each August, there are several local festivities that astonish chance comers by its idiosyncrasy: embroidery and other craft traditions show themselves in rich and colourful ways.
