Anastasia Khain was born in Russia, 1990 in a family of Pontic Greek artists. Growing up surrounded by art history books, she started to draw at the age of two. In 2005, Anastasia graduated summa cum laude from School of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. From 2010 to 2018, she travelled through Finland, Estonia, Belgium, France, Poland, and Austria and lived in Germany, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, whose cultural heritage influenced Anastasia’s development as an artist.
Member of the art society Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc (Artistic Circle of Saint Luke) (and Reial Cercle Artístic (Royal Artistic Circle) in the past).
My research in art consists in the exploration of human and nature’s beauty. Paying tribute to the classical canons of the past, I am inspired by the nowadays reality, which then I represent in my paintings and drawings. This way of research sometimes leads me to destructional and cut-off compositional solutions. I am constantly rethinking what ‘beauty’ means today, especially being interested in the woman’s body and style. Sometimes, I focus on just one particular aspect, like lighting or a sensation, so that the whole process of accomplishing an artwork becomes subordinated to this particular, impressionistic goal.
